Help+Manual Premium Pack 1.50 combines advanced dynamic HTML functions and professional layout in a single package. You can choose from a variety of styles and horizontal or vertical tabbed navigation in WebHelp. In CHM files only the topic pane is skinned but all dynamic features are supported. There is also a dedicated iPad skin with a slick Apple-style layout.
Advanced dynamic features
The Premium Pack 1.50 skins do a lot more than just make your output look better. You also get many powerful features that would normally require many hours of web programming and testing. All features can be turned on or off when you publish your project.
URL switches for index and search (new)
You can now create links to your help that directly open the keyword index and search panes. If you want, you can also simultaneously search for a keyword or search term included in the link, and jump to a specific topic in the help. You just need to create links that look like this:
index.html?search=red%20shift%20effect&redshiftintro.html
User comments in WebHelp with Disqus or IntenseDebate (new)
You can automatically integrate a free Disqus or IntenseDebate user comments account in your WebHelp. Users can then comment on the topics in your help in a separate comments list at the bottom of the topic. The comments are separate from your help and they are not lost when you re-publish and re-upload your help. (They are hosted on the comment provider's site.) Also, you don't need to worry about user names and logins. That is all handled by the provider, or users can log in with their social media accounts.
Dedicated iPad skin and iOS5 compatibility
In addition to the "standard" skins for WebHelp for normal browsers and HTML Help for online help for Windows computers, the Premium Pack also includes a special iPad skin. This skin has a slick Apple-style layout and single-finger scrolling and is ideal for documentation accessed on the go with the Apple iPad.
Both the iPad skin and the standard skins are now compatible with Apple's new iOS5 mobile operating system update. The standard skins are fully navigable on the iPad and iPhone and they now also work with single-finger scrolling.
PP Updater Utility
You no longer need to reconfigure new skins manually. The PP Updater utility transfers your customized settings from your old skins to new ones with a couple of clicks. Once you have configured a single skin you can use the same settings for different skins quickly and easily.
Advanced JavaScript popups
This feature transforms the simple JavaScript popups available in WebHelp and HTML Help, making them both more attractive and more useful. Instead of a static popup box displayed below the popup link, you get an automatically-sized popup that always fits in the browser viewport. Video popups automatically darken the rest of the current page to focus attention on the video.
- Draggable and resizable with an attractive 3D effect
- Stay in view when the page is scrolled
- Can contain formatted text, hyperlinks, images with hotspots
- Can contain videos (not draggable or resizable)
- Automatically displayed with scrollbars when necessary
Index Search in WebHelp
This feature radically improves the usefulness of the keyword index in WebHelp. Just enter text in the Search field and press Enter or click on Search and the first highlighted hits will scroll into view. Press again to scroll to the next hits in the list. The search finds the text you enter anywhere in the index, not just at the beginning of each index entry.
WebHelp Permalink and Bookmark function
The Permalink option displays a small dialog containing the selectable permalink to the topic when the user clicks on it. There are buttons to copy the permalink to the user's clipboard and to bookmark the topic in the user's browser.
Print Topic Preview
Recent changes to some browsers have reduced the ability to print a whole topic directly from the topic frame. Selecting the Print button now generates a printable version of the topic with a print preview in an external window. This ensures that printing works in all browsers.
Sortable tables
You can set up tables in your topics so that the user can sort them in your help by clicking in the header cells. You can sort on columns containing text, numbers, dates, currency and physical values like °C.
Drop-down topic navigation menu
A drop-down topic navigation menu is generated automatically for headings with styles that you tag with special codes. Clicking on the menu entries scrolls down to the headings in your topic.
Link to anchors inside expanding text
You can create hyperlinks to anchors inside expanding text blocks (toggles). The blocks are opened automatically when the user clicks on the link. This also works for anchors in nested toggles (toggles inside toggles) and anchors specified in URL links from other websites.
Mail feedback and expand/collapse hidden text buttons
Clicking on the user feedback button in the topic header automatically generates an email to your support address with a full reference to the current help project and topic for your support staff.
Clicking on the Expand/Collapse button opens or closes all the expanding items in the current topic. The button is intelligent - if one or more items are open all are closed, otherwise they are opened.
Breadcrumb trail navigation, WebHelp subtitle
A breadcrumb trail navigation box with a home button for the main topic in your project is automatically displayed above your topic header. This makes it much easier for the user to see where they are in the project.
You can also add a descriptive subtitle for your documentation that is displayed below the title in the navigation pane.
Single-click feature activation
When you select a Premium Pack skin the options for activating its features are automatically displayed in the Include Options box in the Publish dialog. You activate and deactivate features by selecting or deselecting the options:
Configuration without code editing
You don't need to edit any confusing HTML code to configure your skins. All the text displayed in the skins, your support email address, the text in the email feedback form and so on are stored in simple text variables. You can set up everything just by editing the variable definitions.
Full documentation and all source materials included
If you want you can also create your own skins on the basis of the Premium Pack skins. All the source graphics, Photoshop files and other components are included.
